With the exception of minor variations, Highland Lakes has 12 distinct home styles or models, ranging from 884 to 1650 square feet. Due to the presence of 3 inland lakes on the site, a large portion of these homes are lakefront, and many of the homeowners own paddle boats or rowboats. Like most condominium associations, the exteriors and common elements are maintenance free to the resident, and at Highland Lakes, since the homes are not individually metered for natural gas usage, the heating bill is a part of the monthly assessment and is taken care of by the Association. 

Since the metering is not individual, Highland Lakes is able to take advantage of large volume discounts for the entire site.
